CLOSING THE MONTH & THE YEAR

There is a process each month that must be done in order to give you a snapshot of how profitable your business is. These tasks also give you an exact picture of your finances. An accountant reviews your financial reports and explains them to you in a language you can understand. We can also help to determine where you can make changes in order to increase your profitability.

Monthly accounting reports
Month End

Even the simplest processes at month-end will help you understand if your business is moving in the right direction. The diagram here gives you just a basic overall picture of what is involved each month. We request the documents we need from you, correct errors, make any necessary adjustments and produce financial reports for your review. We perform these tasks for you seamlessly, but we also keep you as involved as you want to be. When we meet with you to review the final reports, we explain changes from the prior month, where you might be headed in the future and how we can help you achieve your goals.

Depending on how organized and clear your books are when we arrive, this process can take as little as a few days or a few weeks. It gets easier as we work together and understand the nature of your business. Our goal is to present you with your business' state of affairs by the 15th of each month.

Yearly accounting reports
Year End

The end of the year should not present any surprises for your business. Regular reviews of your balance sheet and profit & loss statements should tell you where you are at any given time during the year. These reports may sound foreign to you, but to a professional accountant, they are an integral part of your business.

Of course, at year end there are many adjustments that must be made, in order to present each expense and revenue in it's proper place. If you have staff, delegation of these adjustments make it go quicker, but if you don't, we can take the place of your staff and prepare them in a timely manner. We look forward to beginning a relationship with you that will ease your mind about your state of affairs and allow you more time to focus on your customers.
